Using Shorey

Shorey helps our community find beach information and share what people see. WeReady Labs runs the project. These notes explain what to expect when using the website and WhatsApp service.
Check before you go
Shorey cannot confirm that a beach is safe for swimming. Forecasts, photos, webcam views and facility listings may be delayed, incomplete or out of date. Check when an update was observed. Follow lifeguards, beach flags and current official warnings. Shorey is not an emergency reporting service.
Share something useful
Choose the right beach and the time you actually saw it. Share your own observations and photos you have permission to publish. Leave out private details and precise wildlife nest locations. Do not submit spam, harassment, misleading reports or material that infringes someone else’s rights.
Submissions stay private until reviewed. Shorey may ask for clarification, correct details, decline a submission or remove published material. Review and AI assistance do not guarantee that a report is accurate. A “Helpful” vote means someone found it useful, not that they verified it.
Your photos remain yours
Sharing with Shorey does not transfer ownership of your contribution. When you give publication permission, you allow Shorey to display the submitted material as part of its beach reporting service and prepare a resized, metadata-free public photo copy. Public material can be seen and copied by visitors.
Publication permission is separate from optional AI review and any research use. It does not automatically give sponsors or other visitors permission to reuse your work. Contact us to request a correction or withdrawal; copies already saved elsewhere cannot be recalled.
Sources, cameras and supporters
Source providers and contributors retain their rights. A source link, webcam link or programme membership does not mean that organisation endorses Shorey. External sites have their own terms and privacy practices. Webcam links open the provider’s website; Shorey does not host or rebroadcast those feeds.
Support is labelled when present. Sponsors do not decide what beach reports say. See credits and source information for attribution.
While we’re testing
The pilot may be interrupted, changed or temporarily unavailable. WhatsApp testing is limited to approved recipients, and scheduled morning briefs are not sending yet. Please do not rely on Shorey as your only source of beach or weather information.
