A little photo can help a whole community.
Find a beach, check what’s known, and share a photo or a quick local update to help someone heading down.
A WeReady Labs project
Shorey helps people find and share useful information about Barbados’ beaches. Our beaches change from day to day; a little local knowledge can help the next person decide where to go.
How Shorey works
Explore the map, facilities, forecasts and dated community updates.
Add a photo or a useful note on the website without an account, or use WhatsApp.
Your update stays private until you give permission and an admin approves it.
We’re testing this together
The website is available to try. WhatsApp currently replies only to approved testers. Morning Beach Briefs are an interest list; scheduled updates aren’t sending yet. The pilot may go offline while we make changes.
Where does the information come from?
Weather and wave forecasts come from Open-Meteo. We also show Barbados Met Office bulletins and a NOAA / USF seaweed outlook. These cover wider areas: a forecast can’t tell you exactly what’s on the sand or whether it’s safe to swim. Community updates show what someone saw at a particular time. Facility listings and external webcam views may also be out of date or unavailable.
Check the dates and source details on each beach page. Follow lifeguards, beach flags and current official warnings. See our sources and credits.
What happens to my update?
An admin reviews your update before publication. Photo time, location and duplicate checks provide clues, not proof. Your phone number and privately shared coordinates aren’t added to the public report. Your update keeps the time you saw it; Helpful votes don’t make an old report current.
You keep ownership of your photo. See how your information is handled and sharing and safety information.
Where does AI fit in?
NVIDIA photo-review tools are built into Shorey, but aren’t switched on yet. We’re still finishing the account and privacy setup. A person reviews updates before they are published.
WeReady Labs is an NVIDIA Inception member. That membership does not mean NVIDIA has verified Shorey’s beach reports. A dated photo record may help people notice changes over time; scientific research and automated shoreline analysis aren’t part of this pilot. Research use would need separate permission.
Help support the pilot
Local businesses and partners can help keep Shorey going. Supporters do not decide what beach updates say.
Can a business support a beach?
Yes. Get in touch about supporting a beach community or the wider pilot. Any support is clearly labelled. Sponsored morning briefs and contributor rewards are ideas for later; neither is running now.
Partner with Shorey
Tell us how you’d like to help. This is an enquiry, not a purchase or sponsorship agreement.
About Shorey and agreed beach pages can show your logo, name, a short credit and website link. WhatsApp brief credits are planned, not sending.
